Modern Slavery Statement

Highbury Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps that Highbury Man and Van has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Highbury Man and Van is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all activities and relationships.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Highbury Man and Van has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking and expects the same high standards from all employees, contractors, suppliers, and business partners.

Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

Highbury Man and Van is firmly opposed to any form of exploitation and will not knowingly engage with any organisation involved in modern slavery or human trafficking. Our zero-tolerance policy applies across all areas of our business, regardless of location or role.

We require everyone who works for or with Highbury Man and Van to act in line with this policy and to help us identify and tackle any potential risks. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any breach by suppliers or contractors may result in termination of contracts and cessation of business relations.

Supply Chain Due Diligence and Supplier Audits

Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, maintenance services, storage facilities, and labour. Highbury Man and Van recognises that modern slavery risks can arise at various points in these relationships and is committed to taking appropriate steps to manage and reduce those risks.

We conduct due diligence on new suppliers and periodically review existing suppliers to ensure that they understand and comply with our expectations on human rights and labour practices. This includes seeking confirmation that suppliers operate in accordance with applicable laws relating to employment, working conditions, and modern slavery.

Where considered appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, Highbury Man and Van may undertake supplier audits. These audits may involve requesting information on employment practices, reviewing relevant policies, or arranging site visits to verify conditions. If an audit identifies concerns, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within clear timeframes. Where concerns are serious or cannot be satisfactorily resolved, we reserve the right to suspend or end the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Highbury Man and Van encourages a culture of openness and accountability. We want any concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour to be raised at the earliest possible stage. Employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery in our operations or supply chains.

Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers or other senior members of staff. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly where appropriate. Highbury Man and Van does not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is later found to be mistaken.

If modern slavery is identified or suspected, we will take immediate steps to address the situation, which may include notifying relevant authorities and cooperating fully with any investigation.

Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement

Highbury Man and Van is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. We will provide information and, where appropriate, training to help our people recognise signs of exploitation and understand how to respond.

We continuously review our processes to strengthen our ability to detect and prevent modern slavery. This includes refining risk assessments, updating contractual requirements with suppliers, and monitoring changes in legislation and good practice guidance.

Monitoring and Annual Review

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and reflective of the measures we are taking to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. As part of the annual review, Highbury Man and Van will assess the effectiveness of its actions, consider any incidents reported, and identify areas for improvement.

The updated statement will be approved at a senior level within the business and communicated internally and externally as appropriate. Highbury Man and Van is committed to ongoing improvement in this area and to playing its part in the wider effort to eliminate modern slavery from all supply chains.

This statement is made on behalf of Highbury Man and Van and applies to the financial year to which it relates.
